In his seminar presentation entitled “An Insider’s Look at Illinois’ Diversified Biotech Engine”, David Miller President and CEO of iBIO—the Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization—will provide an overview of Illinois/Midwest biotechnology growth in the agricultural, bio-industrial, and health care sectors. His discussion, framed by a sharing of his own encounters with biotechnology on both professional and personal levels, will offer broad strategic themes, as well as specific issues confronting the three sectors, including policy decisions now being hammered out in Springfield and Washington D.C. David will also provide the audience extensive research on the strengths of and remaining challenges for our state and region. His seminar will be followed with a networking reception in the KCBD lobby.
The Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization (iBIO) is a life sciences trade organization comprised of leaders from the private, public and educational sectors orchestrating business leadership in delivery of world-class educational programs and creating new jobs in technology ventures. Prior to joining iBIO, David worked with a variety of companies, including technology start-ups, housing developers, and Fortune 500 companies. He also served as business aide for the Mayor of Madison, Wisconsin where he established the heralded University of Wisconsin Research Park.
